His skill in depicting textures and details is also evident—for example, the characters’ clothing appears almost tangible.

The painting is particularly interesting because it is considered part of the “genre painting” tradition, portraying everyday scenes and humble characters. This was uncommon in Spanish painting at the time, which usually focused on religious themes or the high nobility. In “Three Musicians,” Velázquez captures an intimate and casual moment, revealing his interest in everyday reality and ordinary people.
